Abstract

Classical medium theory consisted of two types of media, which are time-binding
media and space-binding media. Contents in websites and application in the present day
could be considered as space-binding media, in which, many historical narratives could be
searched, and the historical monument and their histories have been recorded. Various types
of people created various types of monument-related contents, which should be examined,
since online media allowed the users to combine time-and-space-binding media in one place
without editors or peer reviews. This paper aims to discuss communication theory related to
this topic, which includes classical medium theory, elaboration likelihood theory, personal
construct theory, and planning theory. The relationship of go-online monuments and these
theories would be reviewed. Monument-related online contents may have a great impact on
the internet users’ belief, since most monuments have the connection to national identity and
Thai people’s prior knowledge. Some contents may cause the mental effect on the audiences,
too. Therefore, this article suggested that educational institutes should not only educate
people with the historical fact, but also the way to properly create the secondary text based on
the history.
